PSA - ALAMO ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM 08/01/2019
The Division of Community Services continues to serve adult learners with educational needs such as seeking a high school diploma and/or improving basic skills in English language, Writing, and Math. We use Essential Education an educational program to prepare students for the HiSet. One of the programs in Essential Education is the HiSet Academy which includes practice tests for the HiSet exam. The HiSet is one of the assessments used to attain a high school diploma. This is an online educational program much like PLATO to help adult learners prepare for the exam. Included in Essential Education is the TABE 11/12 Academy used also to prepare students for the HiSET as well as TABE and other College Entrance Exams. The TABE assessment is available to measure academic levels, TABE is Test of Adult Basic Education. The adult learners in Alamo work independently according to their daily schedule. Over the years, it has been difficult to hold a class. Classes in English language, Writing, and Math can be scheduled at 4-week intervals; however, we need students to fill the classes. The Division of Community Services staff will be conducting a survey to determine the community’s educational needs and give people a chance to recommend class days and times. Please help, take the survey, because we know there are groups of individuals who need their high school diploma, please don't give up. We have online resources and textbooks for you to study and prepare for the HiSet.
Come to the Division of Community Services for your educational needs. Call (575) 854-2609 ext. 1400 for further information.
