Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) Training Opportunity for the Alamo Community 05/01/2019
Beginning May 20, 2019 the Division of Community Services will once more have a Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) Training Opportunity for the Alamo Community. The training is free to all participants. If you are interested you need to come in now to sign up. There will probably be drug testing during the training, All applicants must be 18 and have a valid New Mexico Driver License. The training will end on June 1, attendance is mandatory. Memorial Day, Monday, May 27 is also a training day.
The Heavy Equipment Operator Training Class will consist of:
10 hours of OSHA with a Certificate and also participants will also be certified in American Heart Association First Aid.
These classes will be100–HOURS OF INSTRUCTION be the first two days of training and the next eight days will consist of training on the operation of the following pieces of equipment:
Skid Steer Loader
Front End Loader
Come in now to do the intake, because that is little to ask when you receive this very expensive training free to you but paid for by the Native American Career and Technical Education Program (NACTEP)
PSA – Summer Classes through NTU (Navajo Technical University 07/10/2019
Two summer postsecondary classes will be offered in Alamo during the summer months, June 10 – July 19. The classes are offered through Navajo Technical University.
- ADM202-Office Communications – The purpose of this class is to develop professional oral and written proficiency that will lead to career success. Students will be introduced to the communication process through writing clear, concise business documents.
- ENG-111 (Composition and Research) – This course further develops the skills learned in ENG 110 with an added focus on research techniques and writing that require the use of the MLA documentation style. Prerequisites for this class include a grade C or higher in English 105 or Eng 110.
Both classes will run 6 hours/week and maybe two Saturday classes. There must be 45 contact hours for a 3 credit hour class, therefore, classes will run longer. If you are interested, please register now, there needs to be at least 10 students to make a class.
All students are responsible for tuition payments. Check with the Division of Community Services, NACTEP program to determine if you are eligible for NACTEP funds, unless you have the Pell Grant or other means to pay your class.

NMYCC Positions Now Open 01/22/2019
12 positions are now open for the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps (NMYCC) starting March 4 - August 29, 2019 for ages 18-25. Visit the Division of Community Services for the application/employment process.
The first orientation to learn the required work and educational expectations for the project is January 29, 2019 at 3pm.
